LIVER FLUSH

The liver is the major organ in the body that is responsible for the detoxification of many biochemical compounds which can then be excreted by the body in the stools and in the urine.

The liver is also responsible for the synthesis of many different types of proteins used in the body. During these processes of synthesis and detoxification the liver generates a large quantity of free radicals (oxidants) which can damage and even destroy the cells of the liver. In addition many of the body’s toxins may be stored in the liver until it is broken down. Fortunately, the liver has several defence mechanisms which help prevent the liver from total destruction. The liver has several potent anti-oxidant systems which help prevent damage to the liver cells. The cells of the liver can also regenerate themselves, so even if they are destroyed they can re-grow themselves.

Under normal circumstances, if we are living a healthy lifestyle, breathing clean air and drinking clean water, the liver is quite capable of looking after itself. Unfortunately, many individuals must use medications (e.g. acetaminophen) which are toxic to the liver, we live in a polluted environment, we smoke, consume large quantities of alcohol, eat high fat food, all of which stresses the liver. In order to help the liver, we have developed a unique herbal formula consisting of extracts of the well known Western herbs, Milk Thistle, Burdock and Dandelion as well as the lesser known but very effective Chinese herbs Fructus Lycii chinensis, Gardenia jasminoidis, Polygonum multiflorum (Fo Ti), Artemisia capillaris.

This herbal combination provides antioxidants to the liver, it also helps the cells of the liver regenerate and most importantly it increases blood flow to the liver to help wash away the build-up of stagnant material in the liver and thereby cleansing the liver of debris.
